Diploma Exam Changes

January 2022 Diploma Exams Cancelled

As announced by the Minister on December 30, 2021, all diploma exams will be cancelled in January 2022.

  • Students currently registered to write diploma exams in January 2022 and who have a school-awarded mark for the January 2022 term will receive exemptions without the need to apply for one. The deadline for submitting school-awarded marks for the January 2022 term is February 1, 2022.
  • Students who paid a rewrite fee for January 2022 will receive a refund.
  • Students who planned to rewrite diploma exams in January will receive an exemption from the diploma exam if a new school awarded mark for January 2022 is submitted. The new school awarded mark will be their final course mark.
  • Adult students, home-schooled students, and students who were planning to rewrite diploma exams and do not have a new school-awarded mark can register to write their diploma exams in April.

Decisions about April, June and August diploma exams will be made one administration at a time, considering the COVID-19 context.

Diploma Exam Weighting Temporarily Changed
In response to the disruptions caused by the pandemic, the government has temporarily changed the weighting of diploma exams to 10%, for the 2022-2023 school year.
