Book Awards **Shared responsibility students and SPVA- online students

  • A book will be awarded to the most deserving student in the Shared Responsibility Program
  • A book award will be awarded to the most deserving student in each grade from Grade 5 to Grade 9.
  • Selection of recipients will be made by the teacher on the following criteria:
    • individual development and contribution to the welfare and progress of the homeroom and school.
    • Students can receive the Book Award only once in each division (i.e. Primary, Elementary & Junior High).
    • Sponsored by Sturgeon Public Schools and presented by the Sturgeon Public Virtual Academy School Trustee.

 

Athletic Awards **SPVA Grades 5-9 online program students

  • Student(s) are nominated by teaching staff who demonstrate excellent sportsmanship and participation in PE activities both synchronous and Asynchronous.
  • 1 recipient per grade
  • Students are nominated by SPVA teachers

 

Academic Awards

  • HONORS- Grades 7-9

In order to obtain an Honours Award the student must obtain: 

  • An average of 80% or better in the 4 core areas of Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies; 
  • Passing grades in all electives, as well as Phys. Ed and Health. 
  • Recipients will receive a certificate, a medal & fridge magnet.

 

  • MERIT- Grades 7-9

In order to obtain a Merit Award the student must obtain:

  • An average between 75% to 79% in the 4 core areas of Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies;
  • Passing grades in all electives, as well as Phys. Ed and Health.
  • Recipients will receive a certificate.

 

  • MOST IMPROVED Grades 1-4 Shared Responsibility Program & SPVA Grades 5-9 online program

In order to obtain a Most Improved Award the student must:

  • To recognize a self-motivated, or becoming a self-motivated student who demonstrates improved work habits from September to June and the will to want to achieve.  These efforts can be seen in class participation, regular attendance, and completing assignments on time.

 

Grade 9 ATA Medallion

Sponsored by the Alberta Teachers Association this award is presented to the grade nine student with the Highest Academic Standing. The winning recipient receives a specially engraved medal from the A.T.A.
